Happy Fourth!

Friday, July 5, 2013

Here's hoping everyone had a FABULOUS fourth of July! We had a blast celebrating the holiday this year. Ben spent all day finishing our new backyard privacy fence (photos soon!) and tending to a smoker full of lamb, ribs, and brisket! We then spent the evening with family and friends. I also finally took the plunge and made a flag cake. You know, the cakes with blueberries and strawberries that were all over every news feed yesterday? It was delicious and so much fun. I also tested out a from scratch blueberry buckle recipe which now may have to make its way into our monthly rotation.... it was perfect for breakfast!

We truly had a fun, relaxing day just soaking up the joy around us. We are so thankful for those who serve our country to give us freedom, for the amazing place that we live, and most importantly, for the freedom we have in Christ.

Oh yeah, and I also made Ben do a little photo shoot in our patriotic outfits. If I could send out July 4th cards, I just might do so! :)

  1. The Fourth of July is one of my favorite holidays. Y'all look cute in your matching patriotic outfits, too! My hubs said the long weekend calls for smoked brisket, looks like Texan boys think alike (and its so delicious!). Hope y'all had a sweet holiday! :)

  2. Alright, y'all can stop being the hottest couple on earth anytime now.
