The Blog-tember Challenge: Day 1 | My New Brand!

Tuesday, September 1, 2015

Prompt: Introduce yourself however you'd like!

Today, the start of the Blogtember Challenge, felt like the perfect day to reveal my new blog! For awhile now, I've felt like "Happily Ever Strader" wasn't the best fit for my blog's name. When I first named it after our wedding hashtag (long live #HappilyEverStrader) I hadn't really seen people naming their blogs after their wedding hashtags. And for that matter, I hadn't seen anyone else use a similar hashtag. Maybe I just didn't see it, but it genuinely felt really original and sweet for me. But over time, similar names kept popping up and stopped the name from feeling like a good fit for me. At first I really wanted a cute, catchy, original name for my blog. I strongly considered going back to "Bonjour Victoria", the original name of my blog. What I realized, and a friend pointed out, is that although I was born in France, my overall style is much more reflective of the rest of my heritage... British and Southern. I strongly considered completely rebranding my blog as "British Belle"- a combination of my two backgrounds. In the end though, I felt like whatever I chose would feel like AIM screen names of the past. (Pssttt: stay tuned for more information about what I decided to use British Belle for!)

Is it boring to have my blog named after my name? Maybe. But it's easy to connect with my old blog title and it's got that red lip, classic, thing that you like. You with me, Taylor Swift fans? :)

Some new features I'm extra excited about: the categories bar on the top left, my travel guide (still under construction a little bit), and my favorite posts links on the sidebar! :)

So anyway, if you're new to my blog from the challenge! Hello and welcome to my newly revamped blog!

I'm Victoria Strader (ha- you know that by now!) and I'm genuinely giddy that you've come to check out my blog. I'm 24 years old, and I live in a small town in North Texas. I was born in Paris, and my parents are British. When I was a baby we were the first in our family to leave Europe, and we moved to Alpharetta, Georgia until I was five, when we moved to Texas. I graduated Texas A&M University in May 2013 (I was a Theta!), and married my sweet precious Benjamin Luke on December 29, 2012. Ben teaches and coaches middle school and we're both realtors with big dreams. We have an English Bulldog named Matilda and live in our cozy fixer upper. We LOVE travel but are also huge homebodies. That sounds crazy, but we really do try to balance both lifestyles, haha!

A few of my favorite things:

fresh flowers, bible study, drinking lots of water, quality photography, pineapples, travel, candles, autumn, Southern Living and Southern Weddings magazines, seasonal things, legacy, riding four wheelers, clean kitchens, preppy/classic style, and smuggling baked goods on airplanes.

It's so nice to meet you! I hope you'll stick around and become a sweet friend!

Brave Love Blog

  4. Victoria, this all looks great! And I'm a huge fan of blogs named after the writer. It's just so easy to remember and personal! Also, super jealous of the picture I'm seeing on the sidebar right now of you and Joanna Gaines.

  5. Hey there :) I found your blog through the Blog-tember Challenge and really like your design :) And I don't think using your name as the blog name has to be boring. It always depends on what your blog is for. And if it feels right to you, then that's great! :)

  7. I'm a new Blog-Tember friend stopping by, but I know I'll be back time and time again-- it is so good to get to "meet" you sort of :) So funny how many connections you can find with total Internet strangers that just make you feel like instant friends-- my dad's family lives in Alpharetta, I've traveled to France, and I studied abroad in London for a summer, so all of those places have pieces of my heart too! Can't wait to get to know you better!

  17. I had no idea you were British and born abroad! How often do you head back to the UK? Are a lot of your family still there?

Naming your blog is some of the hardest work there is. I don't think it's boring at all for your blog to bear your name, too! And I'm with you, T-Swift fan. I love the reference you made!

I didn't know you were a realtor?! I am considering getting my license and would love to hear more about your process and how you like it!

  20. Oh, I'm so in love with Southern Living magazine! This Wisconsin girl loves everything to do with the South. :) Your rebrand is so great! I love the idea of naming your blog after yourself... mostly since your name will stay the same and you (hopefully!) won't get sick of your own name. Haha! Can't wait to read more of your posts!

  21. I love the rebrand/re-design, Victoria! Your blog content is always so fun to read. It's one of my favorite blogs to catch up on, so pardon the sometimes multiple comments in one day, haha! With your new tabs, I went straight for the Travel Guide (you two have had so much awesome adventures!) and your home style is so charming, inviting, and chic all at the same time … So I'll definitely be hanging out in that tab too as Greg and I make his apartment our home after we're married :)
Thank you for your sweet comment yesterday. It made me smile :)

  22. Great intro!! I completely relate to a bunch of your favorite things, especially being a homebody who loves to travel. That's me in a nutshell! And there is nothing better than a clean kitchen!

  23. I love traveling. I am jealous of those who have been able to do it alot. I love candles they smell so good. I love the old fashioned look. I like all things vintage. I love southern weddings at like barns and when the maids of honors are wearing cowboy boots. They are also very relaxed so my friend can have her dog be the ring bearer
