A Young Wife's Guide to Thanksgiving: My 2015 Thanksgiving Timeline


Monday:
Grocery Shop 

Tuesday: 
make cornbread 
make pie crusts 
set out all breads needed for dressing, cubed, to dry overnight
make the brine + cool in the fridge overnight 
clean house

Wednesday:
Upon wakeup- coat turkey in brine, place in brining bag to cool and refrigerate
At some point in the day- 
make fudge
make gravy
assemble stuffing
make compound butter
make pie filling + place ready to bake pies covered in fridge
chop potatoes, store in large zip lock bag in fridge overnight

Thursday: 
Before leaving for breakfast at Granny's- rinse turkey of brine, let sit
Back from Grannys- 
Stuff turkey with aerobatics, truss bird
1 pm: Start cooking turkey 
1:30 pm: decrease turkey heat, baste 
2:00 pm: baste, start potatoes cooking in crock pot 
2:30 pm :flip turkey, baste
continue basting turkey every 30 minutes

Upon removing turkey from oven, bake stuffing and pies in the oven. 

And that's my Thanksgiving schedule! More simple than years past, and I'm excited about it! Hope this helps, friends!

  1. This is SUCH a great idea! We're hosting one Thanksgiving at our house and have 3 to attend--eek! I really need to sit down this weekend and make a timeline list like yours.
