one 14 oz can condensed milk
1/4 tablespoon ground cloves*

1/4 teaspoon ground ginger *
1 cup packed brown sugar*
5 quarts buttermilk
1 fresh turkey
2 apples
2 oranges
1 cup corn syrup
1 cup chopped pecans

Let's break down what this list means and how I made it.

First, I wrote out on paper all of the recipes I would be making, with their ingredients and amounts. Then, I went through and pulled out common ingredients, realizing how much sugar I'll need total to cook Thanksgiving, etc. I add all of those together and include amounts next to the items on my list, so that I am not guessing how many ounces I'll need, or whatever!

You'll notice that the actual ingredients are in italics, so I remember the actual product. Anything starred means you might already have it in your pantry, and that you should check for amounts before making your final shopping list. Also notable is that I didn't include salt and pepper, so make sure you have enough of both on hand.

Hope this helps! I'll be back with my full timeline later today! :)

  1. I have LOVED these posts! My mom and I are co-hosting Thanksgiving together for the first time! We have always gone to a huge family gathering and just brought a couple of things! I have loved getting ideas and inspiration from you!

  2. I've been enjoying the series! I've made a few turkeys, but I've never hosted for a big holiday before. I won't be doing Thanksgiving at our home, but I think we'll be doing Christmas morning with my family this year...I'm super impressed with such an extensive menu and the organization! Definitely taking note.
