Adventures with Nicole + Bloom Bash Dallas + Christmas Shopping + Theta Initiation

Tuesday, October 17, 2017

This title makes me want to take a nap. Last week was such an out of the ordinary week in my life, it was jam packed starting last Sunday evening, when I picked Nicole up from the airport! I don't have any photos from that night. We went straight from the airport to my favorite sushi spot and enjoyed a long, relaxing dinner together. So much fun! It was so fun to just be able to sit face to face with one of my long distance besties.

We woke up early Monday morning to head down to Waco so Nicole could visit the Magnolia Silos! Unfortunately it was a holiday so it was pretty busy, and SO hot. Sadly, it for sure took away from our experience but we still had a ton of fun just being together. We both bought this chalkboard and Nicole got a few other treasures and I got a Silobration shirt.

Happy girl at Magnolia! We ended up not eating at the Silos and ate yummy tacos and chips and quest at fuego. Then we raced to Fort Worth for our Dry Bar appointments. It was the perfect pampering after a hot day and Nicole took our family photos that night! I shared one of them on instagram and will share the rest in a few weeks! :)

Before we had left that morning, I put Skinny Taste three bean chili in the crockpot, so we ate that for dinner curled up on the couch watching Counting On and ate our Silos Baking Co. cupcakes! Such a great way to wind down before the next busy few days!

We headed out early Tuesday morning for Bloom Bash Dallas at The White Sparrow Barn. We were so excited to hug some necks and get the party started! I was just helping out with extra tasks and soaking up the inspiration, and Nicole filmed the workshop.

Look at our amazing goodie baskets! :)

Sweet friend Shalyn photographing the goodies!

This venue was truly gorgeous. Everyone could not stop taking photos! :)

Blog friends finally together!!!

One of my favorite parts of the workshop was watching Michaela and Ashley style this invitation suite for the styled shoot.

For some reason watching this was just amazingly therapeutic and it was fun to see my talented friends in action!

After the group took a calligraphy class, it was my job to set out the drinks. It was so fun to make it fancy!

HIGHLY recommend. YUM!!

Got to hang out with sweet Jessica and check out her beautiful work in person! I'm going to be ordering some Christmas stamps from her for our Christmas cards once I select those! :)

So many sweet friends from the week! In the photo above I'm with sweet Cara, a floral designer from Montana. She let me take home her arrangement since she couldn't travel with it and it's been so fun to have here!

The rest of the day was a fun, beautiful blur. I left feeling so inspired and encouraged and it really was such an incredibly sweet time.

The next day I was refreshed and SO excited to reunite with this little pumpkin! We went with some friends to Christmas at Cowtown, a giant shopping event in Fort Worth.

We had a blast (I bought a Christmas ornament and some toffee for my father in law!) and a major highlight was running into my next door neighbor from growing up. I met her when I was 5 years old, babysat her three kids, and hadn't seen her since I was maybe 14? SUCH a sweet blessing and highlight in my day to catch up with her!

Finishing off a busy day with my people!! We had a home group girls "Favorite Things Party" and it was so much fun! We wore our jammies too! :)

And did face masks.. haha!!

Saturday I continued my weird not with my baby week and drove to College Station to surprise my friend Julia for her Theta initiation! :) I had wanted to do this since before she went through recruitment and it was so fun to surprise her and spend the day with her and my grand little's younger sister, Amanda. These two girls are so loved!!!

It was also the first time that I got to see Megan, my little, since her engagement! Crazy circumstances kept us from attending the event and I was so sad.. so it was so fun to see her and talk all things wedding! For those keeping track.. Julia is Megan's little sister, and Megan's twin sister Sarah got married in August and Beau was the ring bearer. My favorite family of sisters ever.

Sunday morning after church we were all exhausted! Beau fell asleep in the car on the way home and Ben looked at me and said "I'm going to hold him for nap and I do not apologize." Haha!! So they had a sweet cuddle. The older he gets these are fewer and far between. Such sweet moments!

That night we hosted home group in our living room... I caught this sneaky snap of everyone and man... I am just so grateful for these people. We had 6 couples (one missing!) and FIVE babies present and we ate chocolate chip cookies and had hot apple cider. It was the sweetest time!! I don't want to ever take for granted how blessed we are to have such a sweet community to walk through life with. I always get questions about our group, so I actually have a post on that planned for next month! :)

Hope y'all had a good week.. I'm ready to be back to normal blogging after a crazy busy season! :)

Thank y'all so much for your sweet words on my update yesterday- if y'all can believe it Beau's bug had been lingering so we went back to the pediatrician yesterday and he has an ear infection. Can't catch a break here!! At least this means something he can have medicine for!

I'm about to knock out our last two big vacation posts from this summer! It's taken me way too long which is ridiculous. They're always my favorites to look back on.. and my favorite place we visited (Iceland) is last so that's something fun to look forward to! :)

My little travel trooper! Beau really does so incredibly well and when we travel with him I'm so proud. This trip alone had six flights and a few long trains and car rides. He really enjoyed the quick flight from Malaga to Barcelona. :)

October Goals

Monday, October 2, 2017

It's 7:15am Monday morning and for the first time in almost a month I'm hopping on here. Wow. Totally did not intend to take a break. I've heard from a lot of you sweet people and every time I responded to someone I had completely true intentions on when I said I planned on being back. The first week and a half I had a really bad cold. I don't know about you but colds just hit me really hard and also taking care of a busy toddler.. survival mode stage one. Then the second I started to feel a bit better Beau got croup for the first time. So, survival mode while sitting next to the steam of the shower. Then as soon as that passed, we literally got to attend bible study one time (showing how much one or both of us couldn't expose our germs to people!) and Beau brought home a stomach bug. Since last week he's been iffy and Friday afternoon started the worst I've ever felt in my life. Praise the Lord mine lasted a lot less time than my sweet baby's, but it came on a TON stronger. Like, I was sick every 15 minutes or so. I will try to keep this classy but I literally burst a blood vessel in my eye.

Emily Ley Simplified Planner 2018 Launch

Wednesday, September 6, 2017

Today is one of the days that feels like Christmas in our house.. Emily Ley's 2018 launch!

You might have read about it in this post, but I'm incredibly loyal to this brand. I've bought a Simplified Planner for the past 4 or 5 years, Beau's beautiful baby book is EL (there's now a gorgeous blush version for sweet baby girls, too!) , and I just plain love what this woman and brand stands for. Grace not Perfection.

I really detailed my love for this planner and this brand in this post I wrote for the academic year launch, so check that out if you'd like, but really this is my PSA that these planners often sell out within 24 hours so I would order, and quick. For anyone interested, I ordered a fancy floral weekly and have been OBSESSED with it. I seriously look forward to every time I use it.

Go get one! Do y'all have any tips for how to keep your planner especially organized? :)

Bits of Victoria: Our Favorite European Cities

Tuesday, September 5, 2017

I have been getting asked a TON of travel questions, so if you have any questions like that, now is the time! Leave your questions in the comments or email me and I'll put together a big post! :)

When hanging out with my family in England last week, I asked my well traveled cousin what his favorite European city is and he said Barcelona, then Edinburgh. This was extra exciting to us because we knew we were about to head to Barcelona. :) The question of course made me think about what my answer was, and then I had to go off to think about a ranking. Ben and I both immediately knew our absolute favorite, no questions.

Our Love Story: Part Four

Monday, September 4, 2017

It's been a long time since I've done a blog post in this series and I'm hoping to not neglect it as much moving forward. If you're new or need a refresher:
We had graduated high school. I had written all of my close friends letters to tell them how much they meant to me and when I wrote to Ben I told him that being friends with him showed me the standard I would have for the kind of man I wanted to marry one day. Typing that now it seems so over the top but it just made so much sense to communicate that because he was such an incredible guy, I would never waste my time with any one without as solid character as him moving forward.

Sitting together in the back of the van on the way to camp, making sad faces because we were in traffic and were so miserable in the car, haha.

For those of you not familiar with the "Super Summer" camp model.. each grade is a color. Graduating seniors not called into ministry were khaki. Your grade is called your "school" so we were "khaki school". And you had small groups within that. Our youth pastor, Josh (who eventually performed our wedding ceremony) was the "dean" of khaki school, and basically taught all the lessons and was in charge of everything. He had ended up having an emergency at church (I don't remember what it was) that kept him from being at the trainings the few days before camp started, including the time when small groups were selected. When we arrived, Ben and I were in the same small group. I was mutually excited and frustrated. I would love that time with Ben but I also loved being vulnerable and growing in my small group, and I felt like I would be too distracted from what the Lord had for me to learn that week. A few days into camp Josh explained that if he had been there early with the rest of the crew, he would have moved us apart even though the group placements had been prayed over. He said the clearly this was the plan.

Somehow we ended up weaving matching headbands. Of course! :)

Friday No. 69

No. 1
I can't even start this blog post without talking about Hurricane Harvey. I usually keep sad things off of this blog, simply because you don't come to it for an opinionated version of the horrible things that go on in the news. But Harvey is happening in our home state. I told Ben this is the first time a natural disaster like this has really felt REAL to me. Maybe because it's in Texas. Maybe because we're homeowners and parents. Maybe because half the people we know from college and some of our family is in Houston. The photos I've seen aren't from the news, they're from friends of ours. It's horrible and nuts. We continue to pray for the people in South Texas who have had their lives turned upside down by this storm. There are places everywhere where you can find information about how to help, but I thought I would post a few references. Continue praying for these sweet people!!

One of my favorite bloggers, Mix and Match Mama Shay Shull posted a list of ways you can help, here

One of my best friends is doing a stuffed lunchbox fundraiser and she shared about it on Facebook

No. 2

I mentioned in my post on Monday that I've been making energy balls.. and I said I've been trying different recipes but still had a bunch of people ask for one. This one is the one I've been using, except I don't use coconut (just because I don't buy it usually) and this last time I added a tablespoon of vanilla protein powder. Ben didn't like the protein powder and has requested I skip it next time. :) Use a little less honey than they say because of the no coconut.

No. 3
This shirt that goes with the new Well Watered Women study is absolutely perfect. I ordered it and the study and am so excited! :)

Keeping it short today since I've had so many posts this week.. Happy Weekend! :) Hope y'all like the new blog design!

All of my Friday posts can be found here.

September Goals

Thursday, August 31, 2017

September is here! I can't remember where I read this this week, but someone was commenting on how September isn't their favorite because it's supposed to feel like Fall, has all the sweet newness of Fall, but you're still sweating in the Southern heat. Very jealous of those of you who get cooler temperatures a bit earlier. :) I'm really excited for the upcoming weeks and getting back in the swing of routines. I feel like I've spent a ton of time with my head in my planner (launch day is September 6 if you want to snag one!) planning some wonderful things for the next few months for us. Lots of sweet holiday celebrations including a Fall fellowship with our home group, riding the "Polar Express" as a family, taking a weekend girls trip with two of my best friends, celebrating our five year anniversary with a trip to San Fransisco, going to a wedding in Kansas... the months ahead are filling up and I am so excited! What do y'all have planned for the fall? My goals for this month are simple and few.. but I need it that way, haha!
