A Day in the Life: February 21, 2017

Monday, February 27, 2017

I always think that "day in the life" blog posts are some of the most interesting to read, but I haven't really done them. It's a lot to remember to take photos throughout the day, but last week I had a success! I think it will be really sweet to look back on what this season of life was like. There are several things about this day that are typical, and several that aren't.. but it's a good representation overall, I think! :)

My alarm clock goes off at 6am and I hop in the shower. I then head into the kitchen to respond to a few urgent emails and read a few blogs. My breakfast that morning ended up being quick.. I grabbed a few links of chicken apple sausage before I noticed what time it was.

If I wake up Beau right on time at 7am, it means I have 18 minutes to get a few things done. I quickly blow-dry my hair a little bit (this blowdryer has completely changed the game for me!) and switch over laundry.

It's 7 am and time to get my boy!

This is what he looks like once he's been unzipped from his sleep sack and is wiggling out all his sleepy!

Beau has his bottle and I put on last night's new episode of Counting On to keep us company.

After his bottle, Beau and I head into our bedroom and he hangs out in the Boppy while I make the bed and finish blow drying my hair.

We are grabbing snuggles the whole way!

Then we spend some quality time together.. Beau is so close to crawling and just rocks and rocks. Sometimes takes a scoot or two backwards. Still waiting on forwards. :)

While we're playing I get a notification that a dress I ordered for Beau's 1 year photos is on it's way. I'm so excited to try it on.

Time for Beau's baby food breakfast. He's been trying to feed himself lately which has been seen and wonderful but has lead to big messes.

After his meal and playing for a bit longer, Beau goes down for nap and I finish getting ready. On Tuesday mornings I meet with my Accountability group. We meet each week and encourage one another to walk more closely with Christ and serve our families better!

Because of president's day, we had a few more children at group than usual. Beau got to meet Alexa's new puppy! He grabbed onto her skin and wouldn't let go.. oops!

This photo shows how much he loves his sweet Addilyn... too happy and bouncy to pose for a photo, haha!

After our meeting I drive through Chick fil A to get a cool wrap before heading to Wal Mart to get our grocery pickup. As I type this I'm realizing that today had a lot more eating out than a usual day!

Wal mart grocery pickup is truly one of the best things! I love Wal Mart's prices but don't love the shopping experience. This is the best of both worlds.

When I get home I put Beau down for another nap, he had a bottle and some baby food while at Accountability. Then I put on some comfy pants and put away all the groceries and clean up any messes from the morning.

Productivity Selfie! :)

I had to finish up my blog post for the next day and did so while continuing to watch the episode of Counting On that I had on earlier.

After finishing my post I curl up with my favorite blanket and relax until Beau wakes up. This is where I got bad about recording the day. He had another bottle after nap and we played until Ben got home.. Beau's favorite part of the day! While they played I saw that my dress was delivered and rushed to try it on.

The dress that I was so excited for arrived! And is way too short for me. Cue the heartbreak. It's not as obvious in this photo but I couldn't wear it in public, I promise!

This is such a random snap but the three of us played together for awhile until Ben got picked up by his dad. Our high school is in basketball playoffs and they went to one of the games for the night, leaving me flying solo. Ben's mom called and said she was getting Jason's Deli for dinner because they'd be gone, and brought me by a wrap!

I told you there was more eating out than a normal day! :)

I go ahead and finish my blog post after putting Beau down for the night, and then crawl in bed to read until Ben gets home. A different night with him being gone, but I loved getting to relax and read.

Hope y'all enjoyed a look into an average day for us! :)

What's Up Wednesday: February 2017

whatsupwedupdated

wuwquestions-edit
1: WHAT WE’RE EATING THIS WEEK:
I had already meal planned for the week before I kept seeing Eggroll in a Bowl everywhere.. so I wish we were eating Eggroll in a bowl, haha! But this week we're keeping it simple. BBQ chicken sweet potatoes, grilled chicken and veggies, and out to eat for a few different occasions.

2. WHAT I’M REMINISCING ABOUT:
It feels like Spring is upon us, despite what the groundhog said. It makes me think about how last Spring was all about how I was nearing the end of my pregnancy with Beau. Time has gone by so quickly!

3: WHAT I'M LOVING:
I've found so many really sweet things for Beau to wear on our trip to Disney. I'll share more about this soon, but right now Baby Gap has so many precious pajamas. I honestly can't choose which ones Beau needs!

4: WHAT WE’VE BEEN UP TO:
My birthday week was filled with lots of celebrations, including shopping at Draper James

This Valentine's Day was the best one yet.. with two Valentines! Beau gave me the most precious gift of saying "mama" for the first time, and we loved lots of time together as a family!

Do y'all think this boy will always kiss his mama on Valentine's Day? If you've been around here any amount of time, you know that I love watching Counting On on TLC. Team Duggar!! Anyways, on Monday night's episode it was Jinger's wedding and during the wedding photos her groom, Jeremy leaned and gave his mom a kiss on the cheek while they were taking a photo together. I pray that Beau and I will always have that sweet of a relationship! Being a boy mama has been more joy than I ever could have dreamed.

On Saturday morning we went to brunch and I wore my new top from Draper James!

Beau's started to really enjoy the joovy scooter! It's so weird to see him gliding around the kitchen!

Sunday morning I went with some friends to CityStrong.. a workout ran by the bachelorette Kaitlyn Bristowe's finance Shawn Boothe and also by Carrie Underwood's personal trainer. The workout was killer and it was so weird being in there with Shawn and Kaitlyn. Kaitlyn is TEENY TEENY TINY.

Selfie with Shawn doing planks behind me! Like a goob.

Kayla's legs and then my legs.. doing our planks right in front of Shawn! Weird!!

Sweaty selfies towards the end of the workout.. I'm still sore! This fun Bachelor related experience almost made up for how terrible this season has been. I'll never stop watching though!

5: WHAT I’M DREADING:
nothing! :)

6: WHAT I’M WORKING ON:
I've been in full planning mode for several things.. right now my focus is mostly on Beau's 1st Birthday party! It's going to be on May 6 which sounds like ages away, but it's really not. I've been gathering lots of inspiration and chatting with our amazing vendors. I can't wait to celebrate our boy!

7: WHAT I’M EXCITED ABOUT:
There are just so many fun celebrations coming up!

8: WHAT I’M WATCHING/READING:
I just finished reading Nine Women, One Dress by Jane L. Rosen, and am about to start My (not so) Perfect Life by Sophie Kinsella.. I'm not so sure about how much I'm going to like it though.

9: WHAT I’M LISTENING TO:
My Dallas people will know what I mean when I say I'm listening to lots and lots of The Kidd Kraddick Morning show... bc I'm SO happy about Kellie's engagement!

10: WHAT I’M WEARING:

I tried on this top last week and keep remembering it! I don't know how practical off the shoulder always is, but i loved the color of this blouse!

I'm making a sad face in this photo because I felt like this top was too short on me.. but looking at this photo I kind of think I could get over it because of how much I love the rest of the top. What do y'all think?

This isn't what I'm wearing.. but Beau is wearing sunglasses!

Is this what the kids are calling athleisure? I think I like it. ;)
leggings + top (similar)

11: WHAT I’M DOING THIS WEEKEND:
Time with the family is on the agenda! It's been a busy few weeks and we need that time!

12: WHAT I’M LOOKING FORWARD TO NEXT MONTH:
My new niece or nephew will be born in the next week and a half! I don't think I fully comprehend that I'm about to meet a baby that I love as much as I love my niece. I can't wait! It is also a kind of marker for lots of fun ahead.. my friend Polly is having her baby boy at the end of March, and in April we'll find out the gender of another one of my best friends'  baby, celebrate Beau's first Easter, and then go to Disney World!

13: WHAT ELSE IS NEW:
I got a Cricut machine for my birthday, and it arrived a few days ago. On Monday I plugged it in and made the first "test" project and now I'm like okay what next. Haha! There's so much information out there on Pinterest but I feel like I need to master the design software first. Do any of y'all have one and have any tips? Should I just start experimenting and trying different things? I need to download a good monogram font asap. :)

Bonus question this month: WHAT IS YOUR GO TO BEAUTY PRODUCT?
This is a hard one! I don't know that I have one specific favorite. I did a whole post on my makeup routine a while back... but I have become really loyal to my Bobbi Brown Shimmer Brick in Rose, and I feel like my Urban Decay setting spray is what keeps me looking fresh throughout the day!

Friday No. 58

No. 1

My number one favorite for the week is without a doubt sharing another first holiday with this boy. We started a new tradition of a Valentines lunch together while daddy is at work. Such a precious time together! The cherry on top of an already sweet day was Beau saying "mama" for the first time! Before our date, when I went in to get him from nap he smiled so big and said "mama!!!" and I scooped him up and kept asking "did you say mama? did you say mama?" which he thought was hilarious. I figured it didn't count because there is no way he knows what mama means... right? haha! But that evening my mother in law and sister in law stopped by for Beau and my niece to exchange valentines (aren't they cute?) and I was telling them the story and Beau looked up so proud and said "MAMA!!" so that sealed the deal and his first word will forever and ever be mama on his first Valentine's Day. Be still my heart!!

No. 2
The second I saw this outfit on Cecil and Lou I commented, sold! I recognized it as similar to the outfit below that was worn by Prince George a few years ago. It really is almost exactly the same. I'm so excited about it, Beau will look so sweet and wear this all summer long! Cecil and Lou is probably my overall favorite shop for baby boy! I remember when we found out we were having a boy it was so tricky to find anything I even sort of liked in store.. then I found the online treasure troves!

No. 3

This is a week of lots of new workouts! My friend Heather posted this video of her workout with baby and I was like YES! Super fun for me to do with Beau for a quick workout that I'll feel. I can't say that my form was as good as Heather's though! Highly recommend, y'all!! When we did some of the ab work Beau was giggling like crazy. I think this video would be great to do in the middle of one of those days where you feel like a worn out mama.. get some blood flowing and your baby giggling!!

I also rediscovered Blogilates and actually did a bunch of her workouts.. obsessed is an understatement. I love how positive she is.

No. 4

Another sweet thing this week was that I realized Beau was about to outgrow one of Ben's outfits from when he was a baby... so we had to get a good photo quick! It's funny because Beau looks so much like adult Ben, but we didn't think he looks too much like baby Ben. Haha!

No. 5
I need y'all to bear with me here. There is a bunch of really cute stuff at TALBOTS. Yes, you read that right. Yes, I'm 26. Haha!! You'd obviously have to pair some younger items with some of these pieces.. But seriously, look!

These floral moccasins are even cuter.

Another scalloped item.. this dress. It would be super cute for easter with nude pumps if you're the pumps wearing kind. :)

And in case you were wondering about my style of swimsuit... the more modest the better. Especially now as a mama. This one caught my eye! I told y'all Talbots was cute!! Haha! ;)

Happy Weekend y'all!!
