Life Lately

Monday, March 20, 2017

Hi! I'm back from a sweet little blogging break. Taking a few weeks for some quality time with my boys was so needed. Ben was off work all of last week so we soaked up a ton of time together.

A few weeks ago our home group had some family worship at the park.. we love spending time with our people and their babies.. Beau napped through the lesson. :)

On Friday, March 3, we spent a fun 12 hours at the hospital waiting on our new NEPHEW! He's named after his two grandfathers and is as precious as can be. It was so fun waiting for my niece to come and tell us "Boy!"

Have y'all ever noticed that the world seems to be divided into the people who love seafood and the people who won't touch it? Haha! Our home group is apparently almost split down the middle.. the seafood lovers head out to a hole in the wall with a two hour wait for the most amazing peel and eat shrimp by the pound. YUM. So incredibly delicious and such a fun experience!

I made an Easter plate with Beau's handprints.. knowing that next year his little handprint will look different. I love our boy so much! This is my favorite handprint project yet!

My friend McKenna and I went to Dallas for the Smocked Auctions Sample Sale.. I'd say this one was my least successful of the three I've been to. I got just one outfit, but it's still a really sweet one!

While our sweet nephew had a doctor's appointment I got to keep Megan and we gave her a Minnie Mouse pancake breakfast! So fun!

Beau tried his hand at painting! Just squeeze a few lines of paint on a piece of paper.. pop it in a baggie.. secure to the floor. He loved it! And I love having it on the fridge even more!

It's okay for you to LAUGH OUT LOUD at this.. haha!! Our family had a party to celebrate my niece getting to be a big sister.. and she had been talking about it for weeks and weeks. It was just a fun dinner but it felt so sweet and special. Such a wonderful idea by my sister in law. My brother in law grilled steaks and we had cheesy potatoes, caesar salad, and pasta salad. Comfort food for celebration! I was asked to be in charge of the "big sister cake" and Megan specifically asked that it would say "Big Sister Megan" and have FIVE Minnie Mouses. I can't say I've found my cake decorating calling.. but I provided what was asked of me. This was such a fun grace not perfection moment.. watching her face light up at my wonky writing. She didn't care one bit. Homemade funfetti with cream cheese frosting.. YUM.

You probably notice that I talk a lot about our home group. We laugh with these people, cry with these people, and are in steady pursuit of Christ together. Once a year we have a really fun fellowship event planned specifically so that everyone can come. The last two years we've done murder mysteries but this year we had a PROM! I know this may seem crazy to some people but we truly had a blast. These people are such a family and it was so fun. We all got dressed up, rode around in a limo for an hour jamming to 90s music, and then our friend Spencer DJed for us all night long. I seriously cannot tell y'all how fun this was! Literally half of the ladies of the group are pregnant right now so that was fun to celebrate too! Last year I was just a few weeks away from delivering Beau so this year it was nice to be able to embrace the theme without a bump. :)

The next morning we helped our friends Josh and Rachel move into their new house. I also snapped this pic for their baby announcement! Baby Jones's gender will be a secret until August... I'm on pins and needles!

We have a little boy who is SO CLOSE to crawling. He just gets up and rocks. Haha! Yesterday he got closer than before so I really think it will be any day now!

We took a family trip to Northpark Mall in Dallas for a few errands.. and took advantage of some of the beautiful grounds for Beau to play and enjoy the sunshine!

I posted about this on Instagram.. but since Beau was born we've never closed his door for naps or bedtime. Even in our old house where all the rooms were so close, we never have. He'll sleep through anything because of it! So with that, I've always come in and out of his room during nap if I need to put clothes away or whatever. Last week I was sitting on the floor beside his crib working on some things and he lifted up the bumper to peek at me.. and the rest is history! I love seeing our boy's personality!

We had a fun family play day at Beau's Big Granny's house with all the cousins! Beau and Sunny are exactly four months apart.. it will be so fun to watch them grow up and be great friends!

We tried on our Disney pajamas.. in one month we'll be there!!!

I went with my friend Tiffany and her girls to see Beauty and the Beast. It was my favorite movie as a little girl and I loved the movie so much!

St. Patrick's Day doesn't hold a lot of significance in our house, but we couldn't miss a chance to dress up our boy in a seasonal outfit!

I met up with two of my good friends from high school and Beau loved snuggles with Kristen.

We took a family trip to Central Market for a few things and Beau was in SUCH a wonderful mood. We loved it and took advantage of a few photo ops!

If you've been reading for awhile you know that I always do a Bachelor Bracket with my friends. We tried the new ABC bracket software and my friend Susannah and I tied for first. We aren't really loving Nick and Vanessa (I hate to say it but I don't think they'll make it through DWTS) so we decided to honor Corinne's Nanny's Cheese Pasta. :)

What have y'all been up to?

  2. Prom!! Too fun! Your makeup looks fabulous :)
Random, but may I request a post on where you shop for Beau? His wardrobe is so precious! Charlie is growing out of everything we were gifted for our showers, so it's time to actually start buying our own clothes for him, ha! :)
