What's Up Wednesday: May 2017

1: WHAT WE’RE EATING THIS WEEK:

A few weeks ago on Southern Motherhood I asked for recommendations for yummy meals, and because of that tonight we're having sweet potato nachos! YUM! I'm also planning on doing easy burrito bowls with shredded chicken, and we'll probably have leftovers on Thursday. Praise hands for short weeks! 

2. WHAT I’M REMINISCING ABOUT:
May 2017 will always standout in my head as the month where my baby boy turned ONE year old!! We did a lot of celebrating! 

We started off the celebrations with lunch with my friend Megan. She gave us one of the most thoughtful gifts, a photo book of all the times I've snap chatted Beau over his first year. She saved every single one and I thought that was so incredibly thoughtful! :) 

The night before his birthday, we stopped at the grocery store to get his birthday balloons inflated, and I snapped this pic. It's like he magically knew he was about to be one, because he looks so big!

We started off birthday morning with a family breakfast at Chick fil A! That felt extra special. Ben went to work, as we had already exhausted days off for Disney World, but starting the day together was so special!

How is it possible that I have a boy who can wear an "I am One!" onesie, and eat chicken minis!? This amazes me!

3: WHAT I'M LOVING: 

Last month when our friend Meredith came to town, she shot Beau's One Year photos, and we took some lifestyle shots at home too! All of the images are so precious to me, but I'm especially loving these cuddly bath time pics. 

4: WHAT WE’VE BEEN UP TO:

Beau tried his first popsicle at Steel City Pops!

We took a quick trip to Magnolia Market with my friend Tiffany and her girls. Beau was SO spoiled by Addilyn and Alexa and I was too! They are such a help and it was so fun. 

Just look at my little helpers carrying some goodies for me! It was seriously SO nice!!!

Beau had his 12 month well check and he literally tore the protective paper apart.. naughty boy!!

We went to Addilyn's dance recital and it was like going back to Disney World for Beau.. he loved it! Ben did take him out at intermission though, full disclosure. :) 

Lots of fun Beau + Mama days before Daddy is home for the summer. I took this random snap and I think it shows how my little boy is kind of my mini!

Beau is exploring everything always and finding new spots around the house constantly! His current favorite is under those chairs. 

Trips to Target with my happy boy happen at least once a week it feels like! 

The company my cousin works for in London, Candy Kittens, got stocked in World Market for a pop up shop, so I went out to find them. I bought all three flavors to support him, but also they are YUM. I'd highly recommend popping by for them. I can't decide if I like the blueberry or the pineapple better, which is funny because usually watermelon is my favorite!

It only took one year, but Beau and Matilda are becoming fast friends, haha!

The pool water isn't quite warm enough at my in laws for Beau most of the time (it's mostly shaded so it's still really cool!) but we took a quick dip the other day and I'm so excited for more pool days ahead!

5: WHAT I’M DREADING:

I never really have an answer for this question!

6: WHAT I’M WORKING ON:
Honestly I'm working on NOTHING!! The last few months were non stop party planning, photo outfit coordinating, and Disney trip planning... so it's been nice to chill  a little bit! This month that will change though, as I'm hosting TWO baby showers for two very special little girls coming in August!

7: WHAT I’M EXCITED ABOUT:
SUMMERTIME HAS ARRIVED! Perks of being married to a teacher, Ben will be home this summer! He's going to still be working about three days a week, but much more flexibly. It will be a sweet time of lots of family time!

8: WHAT I’M WATCHING/READING:

Currently reading China Rich Girlfriend by Kevin Kwan (the sequel to Crazy Rich Asians) and I'm THRILLED that The Bachelorette is back and Counting On is back in just a few weeks. My fave!! 

9: WHAT I’M LISTENING TO:
I'm still in the podcast happy place.. they are such a highlight in my week! What are your favorites? I love Young House Love has a Podcast, Risen Motherhood, & The Happy Hour! 

10: WHAT I’M WEARING:

This isn't a super flattering photo at all, weird angle, haha... BUT I thought it was so funny because it shows trying on clothes with a one year old boy! I felt like I needed some easy denim shorts for my mama life, and these ones have been great! (The top I'm wearing is here!) 

Draper James + Jack Rogers = A match made in heaven!! My new fave summer shoes! 

I just got this dress and it's a new favorite! 

11: WHAT I’M DOING THIS WEEKEND:
We have a home group dinner party on Friday night, and then who knows what Saturday will hold!

12: WHAT I’M LOOKING FORWARD TO NEXT MONTH:

Hosting two baby showers, a fun wedding, a family trip, and hopefully finalizing another one!

13: WHAT ELSE IS NEW:

I think I covered it all :) 

Bonus question this month: WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE VACATION SPOT?

I just talked about this a ton last week, for a Show and Tell Tuesday on Best & Worst travels. No where that we've been can really be called a "vacation spot" because we don't return often.. but my two favorite places we've visited are tied for first! 

Switzerland or.. 

Italy!

Two of our good friends have been to Seaside, Florida in the past week so now I'm dying to visit there! I think it would be such a fun vacation spot for us next year! What's yours?
