- I always go through the mail the second I bring it into the house. I immediately throw away the junk, and deal with what's in front of me. It takes 2 minutes usually, and it keeps the job from spiraling out of control. I've done this for years but still thought it might be worth sharing :)
- I recently gave up seasonal soaps. Some of y'all are like okay great no big deal.. but I used to love getting different soaps for each season. It really is a fun touch.. but I ended up with tons of leftover soap each season and would have to store it, then sometimes forget about it, etc etc. Now we just used Honest foaming hand soap in all bathrooms and replace it when it runs out and it's not something I have to think about.
- I've been making homemade granola bars or "energy balls" every week and keeping them in the fridge and we're obsessed! I've pretty much eliminated all random processed snacks from my diet because these delicious little balls are SO much better than a 90 calorie pouch or whatever. I've been trying out different recipes each week trying to find the perfect ratios.. but look on pinterest for energy balls and you'll find what I've been making. Ground flaxseed, peanut butter, chocolate chips, oats, honey.. YUM! I should try some without the chocolate but it's hard to give up, haha!
- I've shared several times that laundry is NOT my jam. It's the hardest household chore for me to keep up with but I've finally started taking the advice of wiser women who have gone before me. Doing a load EVERY day keeps it from piling up and keeps me from really disliking it. It's been so much easier to keep on top of and it's almost become a no brainer. Not quite, but we're getting there.
Just a few little tidbits from around our house to brighten your Monday! Hope y'all had a great weekend! :)
I didn't know people didn't immediately open their mail when they brought it inside! *Insert monkey covering its face emoji here.* ;) I too do a load of laundry a day and it has helped keep my anxiety level down about the sheer amount of clothes to fold when they're all dry. (And helps keep the, "Where is my ______?" questions to a minimum, too!)
ReplyDeleteMy husband handles the mail in our house but he goes through it immediately when he gets home too. And then he leaves the junk mail on the kitchen island where I'm cooking dinner and it makes me nuts!! :) Those energy balls are great. Sometimes we throw a little coconut in, or a dash of vanilla and some pumpkin pie spice make it yummy too!
ReplyDeleteI tried that mail routine and have failed miserably, lol...still desperately searching for something that works with all the paperwork that comes into this house!! Laundry IS my jam! I love everything about it...until it's time to put it away. Then it sits in baskets, clean and folded, waiting for like a week, haha! But I do enjoy sorting and folding and line drying. It's dishes that make me want to scream!!
ReplyDeleteCan you share your energy ball recipes that you like?
ReplyDeleteLove reading these! I, too, recently gave up the seasonal B&BW soaps- and am loving the simplicity. I really like the JR Watkins foaming soap in either lemon or grapefruit. They have them at target or even better Subscribe and Save on amazon! Amazon Prime is a major simplifier for me- although I probably end up buying way more. With a little one, it's just such a relief to just get it in two days or less versus a drive, carseat buckling, stroller adventure.
ReplyDeleteI need to try those energy balls. I'm constantly starving and snackless!
Yes, can you share the energy ball recipe? It sounds amazing. Thank you : )
ReplyDeleteI'm with you -- I love these types of posts! I used to do seasonal soaps as well, but lately we've just been buying the Mrs. Meyer's lavender handsoap in the large refill bottles -- so much easier and it's nice not to have so much clutter in the linen closet.
ReplyDeleteLove reading these too! I have been thinking about making energy balls at some point but just haven't tried it yet! One laundry tip I heard recently was to automatically throw your clothes when they are dirty in the washer, so that way when you have a full load you can just wash! I do this only with darks and colors, because we definitely go through more darks and colors than lights, so I keep the lights or hand wash items in a basket, and then all the darks and colors go straight in! This has really helped me stay up to date with laundry!
ReplyDeleteLOVE the energy balls and there are so many options to try. I haven't found one yet that isn't wonderful, but I have to be careful having them around too often. My husband doesn't eat them, and they're SO easy to grab way too often. Look on Pinterest for the homemade breakfast cookies, too. They're also amazing. I enjoy doing laundry, so that's not a problem. I fold it as soon as I pull it out so it's easy to put away. But I'll confess to hating ironing..especially in the summer when it's so darn hot outside. How do you Texans do anything in your heat, lol? As for mail, Brian loves that I sort it and get rid of anything he doesn't need to take a look at...makes life simpler for us both. Good for you for striving for simplicity!
ReplyDeleteI made JoJo's Power Balls for the first time this month and they were yummy! Could definitely see them becoming a regular thing in our house :)

LOVE this. I keep wanting to make energy bites and forget but I am going to get on it. And I need to do what you do with the mail, I let it pile up and it really does get overwhelming, or we misplace things because I lose track of what is up to date (like doctors bills!) And I am also with you on laundry! Especially because I work outside of the home, I so often let it pile up and it becomes a huge weekend chore. I am making it a point to fold and put away loads during the week, and it makes it so much less daunting!
