A Reintroduction

Thursday, January 18, 2018

This morning I noticed several friends sharing "reintroduction" posts, so I thought I would do the same, even if it's a bit late.

My name is Victoria Strader. I'll be 27 in February (whoowee!!) and I was born in Paris, France. My British parents lived there for a few years. By the time I was a year old they had moved to the US, but all of my extended family lives in England. I live outside of Fort Worth, Texas. I absolutely love the blend of culture that has made me who I am. I love all things Southern, but am also a die-hard fan of the Royal family. For the most part I have a classic style, something I think is influenced by both of the places that have shaped me.

I married Ben on December 29, 2012. We met the first day of high school at our fish camp, became good friends a few years later and basically I fell in love with him and twiddled my thumbs waiting for him to do the same. I've been blogging through our love story recently and owe y'all a new post. But I'd say pretty much daily, if not every few days, I stop and think how much my life would suck without him. Truly. He's the absolute best and has given me the sweetest life we could dream of. No one is more dedicated to loving God. No one is more dedicated to me and our children. He's just a gemstone. But he also annoys me plenty because we're normal human beings but overall, major gemstone.

We have a 20 month son named Beau William, and are expecting his Little Sister in early May! Being a mama has always been my absolute dream and I really do love every day. So many parts of it come with a learning curve but even on days that I'm exhausted or discouraged all I need is some time cuddling my boy and all is better. I cannot wait for the joy that is ahead with loving my two babies.

My faith is the glue of all of these things. Every day there is hope and light because of Jesus.

A few other things:
  • Beautiful paper goods are my favorite thing. I live for a good invitation or announcement.
  • I pretty much only see white, blue, and blush. Just kidding. But those colors are my favorite for sure.
  • We are travel lovers! We truly mix being homebodies and loving exploring the world. I think Beau has already visited 10 countries (there is a note on my phone) and times traveling are our absolute best. I can't wait to plan little sister's first trip abroad!
  • I love silhouettes and my favorite gift this year was from my brother and sister in law, they had Clay Rice silhouettes done of my niece and nephew for me!
  • I know I'm behind the times but I purchased an insulated tumbler last week and it's radically changed my life and I feel like I'm so happy each day because of my tumbler. Thank you $12.99 30oz tumbler for being my bestie!!
  • My girlfriends are INCREDIBLY important to me. I have two best friends from college who are like sisters to me, and all of the families in our home group are also really like family to us. We're in a season of life where all of our friendships are really close ones.
  • I love interior design. We're dreaming of building a long term home in the next few years and when we do it's going to be like my Olympics. In the two homes we've lived in I've loved making them ours, but being able to customize everything is going to be fantastic.
  • My favorite desserts include cookie cake, smores, and normal chocolate chip cookies. :) Currently trying to keep the pregnancy weight at bay with just 2 treats a week though. My husband and I always say we could be extremely happy only eating really healthy- plus desserts and candies. Haha! Fried foods are not my temptation at all, but love me some sugar treats.
That's all for now! I'd love if you would reintroduce yourself in the comments. I know this is out of comfort zone but so many of y'all have read my blog for years and I have grown to love you as friends. And if you haven't said hi before, I'd love that too!

Linking up with Emily!

  1. I'm Bridget. I met you through ASC at Texas A&M. I married my college sweetheart in March of 2012. I'm a new mom to almost 4month old Shepherd Warren. I currently work remotely in the marketing department of an analytics company in NYC, but I'm desperately trying to figure out how I could swing staying home with children. I am currently training for the Boston Marathon, which I qualified for 2 months before getting pregnant and will run it 6mo postpartum. What a whirlwind! I live in Erie, CO and love spending time outside (when it's not cold & dark).

  2. Yeah girl, insulated tumblers are the BEST!! And I could do without fried foods as well, just as long as you don't take my chocolate chip cookies away. :)

  7. Thank you for joining our link up, Victoria! It was nice getting to learn more about you. I love that you were born in Paris. I am also a blue lover. Blush has become one of my favorites which is so odd because I was never really a pink kind of girl. Sierra~Beautifully Candid

  10. Loved getting to know you better through this! I'm Kasey and I found your blog through a link up last year. I attended Liberty University and I am currently a teacher at a Christian school for the third year in a row. I married my best friend, Todd just over a year and a half ago. I live in Roanoke, VA but probably won't be here forever. I am semi-new to this blogging world and I am constantly trying to learn more. I love shopping, home decor, and travel, but all while trying to be thrifty and save our money! Lol Also, most importantly I love Jesus and like you said, he is the glue that holds it all together! Thank you for being an inspiration to me, I really enjoy the content you produce and have really enjoyed getting to know you and your fam through it! :) -Kasey

  11. Hi Victoria! I'm Megan. I have been following your blog for a little while, but more so recently, after starting my own blog. I think we met in middle school maybe. I have a few faint memories of playing together, and I'm sure we probably had a mutual friend that brought us together, but I can't for the life of me remember who it was! Do you remember me!? Your little family is precious and I am looking forward to seeing all the adorable girly outfits and decor when your little girl arrives. Congratulations!

  12. I'm Katherine! I started following your blog I think a little while before your wedding in the beginning of 2012. It was my last semester of college and I loved how following along with your story gave me hope (what can I say, it was a little bit of a rough time for me and you are just so positive). I still haven't taken the plunge after over 4 years with my guy and I'm not really religious, but I still just love to read your posts and I'm so happy for all of your good fortune. I played around with starting a little blog of my own for a while, but set it down about a year ago and haven't had the drive to get back with it. I work for a small family business and I just bought my first home! I live in Southwest Florida and really love a good book and a hot cup of tea and to spend a few hours a day at the gym.

It's great to re-meet you! Cheers to you guys and the new baby <3

  14. I comment here and there, but I'm also due in May so I've been a less than stellar blogger/commenter/anything-er lately ;) So I'll reintroduce myself, too!

But I'm Britt, I'm from Utah, currently live in Idaho. I've been married to Kyle for 8 years come May. We have 2 kiddos -- Abe will be 4 in March, Eliza is 2, and I'm due with baby #3 (whose gender we didn't find out!) May 21. I stay at home, blog, and do all the normal mom/wife things, haha!

My mom is from London (lived there until she was 27-ish, my dad is from the states) and all of her family still live there (well, my one uncle lives abroad but they keep a house in Surrey), so it's so fun to read about your family/travels/etc.

I love all things paper/organizational, etc., love to read, and of course, I love clothes ;) My google account should be linked to my blog, but it's britt-hanson.com, just in case!

  15. Getting to know you posts are always some of my favorites to read. It's fun to see what all you have in common with others. :) -- I'm Hannah. I've been following you since you were engaged. It's been SO fun to follow along and see your cute little family grow! I'm the same age as you, married to my high school sweetheart as well, and live in the DFW area as well. I am passionate about being intentional with my marriage, family, and keeping life simple but sweet! Being in a similar life stage and liking many of the same things you do, I enjoy keeping up with your blog as I find myself relating to you so easily!

  19. I'm with you on the sugar (impossible to resist) and the paper goods! I just ordered some custom stationary from Paper Source and I'm absolutely itching for it to come in. (Was so expensive though, sigh.) I live in Dallas (and firmly acknowledge that I'm one of those Dallas people who claims Dallas proper, lol), and I'm obsessed with Kate Middleton's style... but I rarely feel like I put myself together well, lol. I love your travel posts and get inspiration from them for my own adventures with my husband!

  20. Hi Emily! I am so glad I found your blog! I am British and went to Texas A&M so it is super cool to find a blogger with a similar blend of influences! Plus you love stationary (one of my obsessions) and say y'all so I can totally relate :)) It even made me chuckle when you said 'fish camp' as we had that at Texas A&M and I think if I said that in England people would be very confused! Looking forward to reading more posts! Europafox x

I share your love for stationery, interior design and Kate Middleton! So excited to see what this new year brings for you and your family. Thanks again for sharing all of your stories and photos from travel, of Beau, and everything in between. It's always such a fun moment in my day when I stop by to read your new posts. 23. Your family is so sweet and cute! Congratulations on the upcoming arrival of the new little one! Building your own home and getting to customize it to make it just the way you want it to be would be the coolest thing ever! I also really appreciate travel, but I've spent a good chunk of my life in SE Asia, and have never been to Europe at all!

  24. My favorite line from this post is “But he also annoys me plenty because we're normal human beings but overall, major gemstone.” Truth! love your blog, friend!
