About

Hi there! I'm Victoria Strader, & I blog about the life that my husband, Ben, and I share.

These are a few of my favorite things:
Jesus, candles, Texas A&M University (where we both graduated from! WHOOP!) handwritten notes, Southern Living magazine, beautiful photos, interior design, great customer service, stationery, a productive morning, healthy crock pot meals, Anthropologie, grocery shopping, Kappa Alpha Theta, hospitality, guests leaving our home with full bellies and happy hearts, Matilda: our English Bulldog, DIY projects, Nordstrom, financial planning, holidays and celebration, and fresh flowers.

All of these things are fun, but what we want you to walk away from our blog with, is a new and fresh look at God. We claim Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior, and The Bible as 100% truth.  There are tons of intense and confusing questions about this world we live in, the tragedies that take place, and the days before us. We are thankful that Christ is greater than our weaknesses. Long ago when Adam and Eve were first, they disobeyed God's one command to them and sinned the first sin (Genesis 3:6). Since then, everyone has been born with sinful tendencies, with yucky hearts. God then sent His only son, Jesus, to die and save us all from the bondage of sin. (John 3:16) Because if we're honest, sin wraps awful chains around us and makes life hard. But there is hope and freedom in Jesus. Believing in His sacrifice in your heart, and confessing it with your mouth (Romans 10:9) brings peace to your life, knowing that one day you'll spend eternity in heaven with Him. Our faith in this truth brings much joy to every day. Even when it's hard to read the scriptures and try and live them out, we know that the words we read are true, and that they will bring an OVERWHELMING peace to our lives.

Long ago, across the ocean blue, I was born in the city of lights. Paris, France only stayed my home until I took my first steps, and if you've been around this blog for awhile, you may remember when I was "Bonjour Victoria!" After a few years as a Georgia peach, we moved to Texas when I was five. My heart and my closet have been here ever since. Because of my all British family (my parents just lived in France for a few years) I hold my British passport along with my American one, and I've never lived in the same country as any of my extended family members.

This all changed when I fell in love with a farm boy. Benjamin Luke is my best friend and loving husband. You can read all about our wedding here

Right before we got married, we bought a fixer upper in a small town, our dream home for this stage of life. We live in, I repeat, a REALLY small town. Like, the post office closes in the middle of the day so the ladies can have a lunch break. This town is where Ben grew up, and the town that I fell in love with.  People often ask "how long we plan on staying here" because they can't imagine wanting to stay where you grew up, but we plan on this being our forever home. We trust that God might have other plans, and we will follow where He calls, but we love it here. We love being close to the farm that taught Ben his work ethic as a small child. We love going to the church we attended as youth, the place we got married. I love being a few streets over from our grandparents for the first time in my life. I am a big fan of the small town culture. Sometimes I wonder if we're the only ones who have heard of J. Crew, but then I realize that doesn't really matter. These people love like something fierce.

Thanks for stopping by our blog! If you have any questions or just want to say, PLEASE do not hesitate to email me at happilyeverstrader@gmail.com. We are thankful for you taking the time to read a little bit of our story!

  1. Victoria, it is so fun to get to know you via your blog!! I married a farm boy, too - and now WE live in a super small town - where our post office is only open for 4 hours a day :) We plan on living near here, but on our own farm place, someday and making it our forever home. So I can totally relate to people who don't know about J. Crew. But there is something so special about being close to the land, close to my husband's family…it's a real gift! I look forward to following along on your blog! :) (I blog over at Just Bee - www.justbeeblog.com) Nice to meet you! :)
